A valiant effort was staged today by five skatepark advocates vs. City Hall. The deck was stacked against us. We were originally scheduled as the initial speakers for today’s City Council Meeting. However, the powers that be decided to move us to the back of the line. Obviously they believed there are more urgent City matters than improving the quality of life for Houston’s largest demographic (600,000 people under the age of 19). After waiting for over three hours to speak our minds about the importance of the Spring Skatepark Project , we were finally given our chance. We made a fantastic case, but it is still very much an uphill battle.
It aint over until it’s over! (My guess is the decision will be made by June 30th.)
